Students gain experience in medical-surgical nursing, obstetric nursing, pediatric nursing, geriatric nursing, acute care settings, long-term care settings, and community settings. The curriculum covers personal, family, and community concepts, nutrition, human growth and development, body structure and function, mental health concepts, pharmacology and medication administration, legal aspects of practice, and interpersonal relationship skills.
Throughout the practical nursing program, students are required to demonstrate competencies in content areas to progress in the program. Proficiency is assessed with quizzes, exams, return demonstration of laboratory skills, home study modules, research papers, written assignments, and clinical evaluations.
